    The Transportation Capacity Planner is responsible for the coordination and execution of strategic routing and load planning using company assets and Mohawk approved carriers.  This role is responsible for ensuring the organization’s customer expectations are met or exceeded.   

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assign capacity by ensuring productive use of assets and drivers.
    • Work directly with Manufacturing, RDCs, and vendors.
    • Build relationships with organization’s internal and external customers to ensure service achievement.
    • Notify management of service issues that might impact customer experience.
    • Understand the unique handling characteristics and delivery requirements of the planned shipment.
    • Comprehend DOT HOS and schedule requirements for on time delivery.
    • Forecast volume based on historical data and proactively plan capacity needs
    • Ensure revenue goals are achieved or exceeded
    • Communicate market conditions in regards to cost and availability
    • Enhance customer experience with scheduled communication on order status
    • Maintain current information on trailers in trailer pool and assure counts meet demand.
    • Generate service reports to include departure and arrival status
    • Communicate information pertinent to excess load availability with Sr. Management
    • Analyze freight flow information and determine trends to make recommendations for improvements.
    • Communicate with other team members concerning any alterations to schedules
    • Maintain contact with service centers throughout the line-haul cycle ensuring freight remains in cycle within designated lanes
    • Coordinate with fleet dispatch on outbound and inbound needs to ensure full utilization of assets
    • Communicate opportunities to reduce line-haul schedules and maintain service goals

     

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma required
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
    • Strong problem solving and decision making ability
    • Self-managed and highly motivated
    • Strong written and verbal communication
    • Integrity and reliability
    • Ability to forecast and logically analyze issues, evaluate alternatives, and make the best overall decisions based on service requirements, freight demand, economical factors, customer relations, and driver needs
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting with rapidly changing priorities
    • Ability to properly plan daily goals to drive efficiency and maximize profitability for the customer and the driver
