Responsible for planning and acquiring the necessary level of materials to meet production requirements of the plant. Works to maximize output and customer satisfaction levels while supporting overall Company objectives. Analyzes relevant factors to determine appropriate inventory level and maintains plant inventory levels necessary to meet operational demands. Performs with latitude for independent action according to specified objectives within the framework of the job’s primary duties and responsibilities.


Responsible for analyzing production requirements and specifications, customer orders, plant capacity, and other relevant factors to determine the appropriate inventory quantities required to meet operational demands. Manages plant inventory levels, which includes ordering accurate amount of materials, determining the appropriate lead-time, tracking available storage space, and identifying and participating in the resolution of causes that delay the production process.

Works with plant management to forecast and order materials by establishing an inventory plan that ensures production objectives are met. Reviews reports and allocate materials to manufacturing work orders in support of the scheduled requirements. Maintains accurate and updated status information used to make informed decisions.

Releases orders, expedites, or modifies material requisitions as needed. Reports job progress, and act as a liaison to cross-functional areas in order to reach order completion dates and/or promised shipping dates.

Prepare reports tracking material usage and resolve major variances. Review status and recommend use or disposition of aged, slow moving, or obsolete materials.

Provides key performance information to management in order to make timely and informed decisions to meet both short and long range production goals. Anticipates and communicates current or potential problems and opportunities to ensure the best allocation of resources within the assigned area.

Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.

Perform other duties as required.

Four-year college degree and a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible job specific work experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.


Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and systems.


Knowledge of company brands and product specifications.

Strong PC skills including MS Office Package, internet, and internal Company hardware and software. Accurate typing and data entry skills required.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively. Ability to schedule and prioritize work, identifying potential problems and implementing solutions before they occur.

Ability to work independently and efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities to facilitate the production of a large volume of high quality material with attention to detail.

Strong oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels in the organization and external business contacts
