The Production Designer serves as the producer and communicator of trend research and trend analysis for Product Development with regard to national accounts and New York Market development.  This role, which reports to the Creative Director, communicates the Design Department’s creative vision to internal and external customers.  This position ensures that design, color, and story are translated in a pure, authentic expression.  This role produces and presents trend presentations using PowerPoint, 3D trend boards, and 3D vignettes.  This role establishes time lines, line plans, and action plans to execute strategic products to be showcased at New York Market.  This position also helps develop strategic products for national accounts and line reviews.  This is a very proactive role and requires someone who is self-starting, disciplined, patient, and detail-oriented.  This is a unique role because it requires strengths in many aptitudes:  product design, graphic design, vignette design, discernment of fashion, industry knowledge, creative writing, communication and presentation.   


The Production Designer’s primary objective is to research fashion trends, across all price points, and to communicate those trends in a professional way to Mohawk Home’s teams and customers. 


  • Proactively research and organize all apparel (runway) fashion trends and colors. 
  • Proactively research and organize all home accents and fashion trends and colors.
  •  Proactively research and organize in-store assortments of top 3 customers. 
  • Create electronic PowerPoint presentations to support market research and formally present to internal and external customers. 
  • Create 3D trend boards to support market research and formally present to internal and external customers. 
  • Create 3D trend vignettes to support market research and formally present to internal and external customers. 
  • Formally present trend analysis to Design Department seasonally. 
  • Formally present trend analysis to customers as requested by Sales Team. 
  • Travel to New York, High Point, Las Vegas, Atlanta Markets as needed to research trends. 
  • Travel to customer’s headquarters to present trends and products as needed. 
  • Work with Creative Director to provide detailed line plans of product development for markets. 
  • Work with Creative Director to provide detailed line plans of product development for national account line reviews. 
  • Organize and present trend analysis to Mohawk Home creative teams. 
  • Work with Design Director to new yarn systems and innovative constructions. 
  • Provide and generate names for prospective and existing products. 
  • Provide creative writing of new products and collections to publications and marketing. 
  • Work with Marketing Department as needed to plan for vignettes.


4-year Degree in Business, Merchandising, Sales

Understanding of trend, color, design, and fashion from high end to entry level


Excellent communicator verbally and in writing

Able to be flexible with hours beyond 9-5


Physically construct storyboards, mood boards, and trend vignettes
