Perform duties with latitude for independent judgment and decision – making within the framework of the job’s primary duties and responsibilities and the overall department activities. Provides work related direction and training to junior team members. Prepares and presents reports to management. Participates as a project lead or team member on Division and/or department level projects of low to medium complexity, scope and risk.

  • Maintains/updates cost accounting master file, prepares cost accounting statistical studies and produces monthly cost reports.
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly cost reports and maintenance of cost accounting system. Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Prepares ad-hoc cost reports and analysis as requested.
  • Responsible for routine and ad-hoc inventory reporting.  Will review inventory reports for accuracy and address discrepancies as needed.  Will provide audit documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Reviews disbursements and employee expense reports to ensure proper cost allocation of administrative expenses.
  • Act as backup for the corporate fixed assists systems, depreciation, and 401(k) qualified and non – qualified plans.
  • Responsible for monthly labor reports.
  • Responsible for month-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • May advise junior team members or assigned direct reports.
  • Lead mid-level department projects or participate as key contributor on complex high visible projects external to the department.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field, required.
  • Five plus years job specific experience
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access and Email, required)
  • Good understanding of accounting concepts, terminology, and practices and principles.  Understanding of SOX regulations a plus.
  • Understanding of the concepts, practices, systems and terminology of inventory management.
  • Proficient in the following departmental database systems:   AS400, JD Edwards, CAMs and Internet. SAP, Sequel, Business Objects/BI Reporting experience a plus.
  • Advanced skills in cost benefit analysis.
  • Problem solving, analytical skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Works with minimum supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters
  • Effective in dealing with individuals at differing levels, internal and external to the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret highly complex business and financial documents in written, chart or diagram form.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and plan work under own initiative.
