Responsibilities

Primary responsibility is for day to day maintenance, monitoring and architecture of Global Enterprise Converged Infrastructure.

  • Must have a Senior level architecture ability with experience in the following technologies: VCE vblocks, Dell/EMC vmax storage arrays, Dell/EMC symmetrix management console (SMC), EMC symmetrix command line (SYMCLI), EMC Clariion/VNX Storage arrays, EMC Centera, EMC Celera, and Cisco / Brocade Fibre Channel SAN fabrics.
  • Senior level ability to support the VMware environment specifically in these areas: VMware vsphere esxi, VMware vsphere site recovery manager and VMware vsphere virtual center server.
  • Review and design converged infrastructure architectures.
  • Ensure acceptable best practices for enterprise converged environment are identified and integrated into the environment.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and training of other team administrators.
  • Create storage administration policies, standards, and procedures for all platforms.
  • Make recommendations to management on new hardware, software or related tools. 
  • Assist in evaluating, planning and implementing new storage systems, tools, processes or procedures. Perform break-fix and troubleshooting storage related tickets.
  • Maintain disaster recovery data replication.
  • Ensure data replication integrity.
  • Maintain storage best practices and storage life cycle management.
  • Capacity Planning – Data tiering and usage trending.
  • Fibre Channel switching Performance/Alert Management – Proactively monitors and manages SAN space and I/O utilization Provide timely, effective and professional support.
  • Consistently maintain overall department objectives and project goals.
  • Provides clear, concise and complete operational change communication and appropriate problem notification/escalation communication according to established procedures.
  • Interact with internal and external customers of IS services with a high degree of tact and diplomacy to promote a positive image of the IS department. 
  • Use verbal and written communications to demonstrate a customer-focused attitude when dealing with customers. Escalate storage related issues as appropriate to the attention of IS Management to avoid or minimize business impact.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to calmly resolve high risk situations.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of responsibilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Work with vendors to ensure maintenance coverage for all relevant servers and equipment.
  • Utilize tools for continuous system monitoring of system resource utilization.
  • Be available 24x7x365 (via cell phone, home phone, etc.).
  • System maintenance including patching, upgrades, operating system fix installs, operating system upgrades and reboots. 
  • Follow Change Control processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field a must.
  • Capable of Mentoring Junior Technicians
    • Work closely with Junior Technician and other team members
    • Includes writing of Training documentation and one-on-one questions and answer sessions with other department technicians. (Support Center, PC Tickets, and Projects Team)
    • Classroom presentation of new material
    • Reinforcement of basic foundational skills
    • Provides technical assistance and performs change control review to work output of junior team members
  • Strong Documentation and communication skills
    • Able to maintain living documentation
    • Explain technologies in a non-technical manner
    • Help to develop policy and procedure
  • Plans, conducts, schedules and provides technical direction to systems engineers
  •  Provide documentation for repeatable process


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
  • Strong Experience is security administration, server software and utilities, and Active directory
  • Strong experience in application and user Documentation, Business Technology Integration, Business analysis, integration testing, project implementation, physical design, process modeling, and purchase software evaluation.

Highly desirable:

  • Vblock system administration
  • Vmax storage administration
  • VNX administration
  • Avamar and Data Domain

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers in other areas of IT organization, which are essential for maintaining good public relations, facilitating communication, and soliciting useful feedback
  • Ability to conduct and prepare feasibility studies; develop client proposals, including estimates for costs, time, and resources; prepare statistical reports; complete cost/benefit analyses; and conduct business
  • Ability to assess internal and external communication practices, anticipate future network requirements, and research and analyze emerging technologies
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communications skills; ability to effectively exercise tact, discretion, judgment and diplomacy when interacting and/or negotiating with internal and external customers, and senior management, and ability to communicate with others in antagonistic situations using appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards
  • Ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, a demonstrated track record in new concept development for various projects and complex technical plans, and ability to solve problems involving remote and elusive symptoms often spanning multiple environments in a business area
  • Ability and willingness to accept responsibility, willingness to challenge established practices and draw relevant conclusions, including the persistence and willingness to take calculated risk, to stimulate market and sell new ideas within the organization.
  • Excellent human resource management skills to effectively lead and direct a diverse work group; to achieve results through team efforts, and the desire and ability to motivate, persuade and direct the activities of others
  • Organizational ability to redirect skills to support new technologies while maintaining current commitments; ability to perform in a high pressure environment and/or crisis situation and render good decisions to resolve the problems, maintain safety and ensure adherence to Corporate Code of Conduct
  • Ability to act as a managerial advisor on professional and technical issues with a view towards reaching strategic decisions; ability to manage conflicting demands for resources through negotiation
